RDs who specialize in diabetes care have been expanding their roles and responsibilities for the last decade or so. In this article I delve into the recent changes to titles as well as organizations and the rationale for them. The centerpiece of this article is profiles of seven RD, CDCES who are trailblazers. In their mini-interviews they share why they became CDCESs, earned other related credentials, their unique expanded roles, and words of wisdom to colleagues who want to join their ranks.
